The Keion White incident took a bizarre spin.
The 49ers defensive lineman, who was the victim of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his ankle in an incident in San Francisco early Monday morning, was shot after an argument involving rapper Lil Baby, according to a police report obtained by The San Francisco Standard.
Monday morning’s incident occurred outside of Dahlia’s, a bar and nightclub at 1799 Mission St., where Lil Baby, whose given name is Dominique Jones, was in attendance, according to social media posts.
The Atlanta-based rapper performed Sunday night in San Francisco.
According to The Standard, a witness interviewed by police said that Jones’ entourage was on the party’s main floor and tried to enter White’s private event. White then got into an argument with the rapper, the witness told police.
When the witness went upstairs to ask for the management’s help to defuse the situation, he said he heard two gunshots. After he rushed downstairs, he found White shot in the left leg. The witness said he did not know who shot White.
The 49ers shared Monday evening that White underwent successful surgery, and there is no timetable for his recovery.
San Francisco acquired White in a mid-season trade with the New England Patriots. The 27-year-old is under contract with the 49ers through the 2026 NFL season.
