Someone (PiMike?) explain to me how Padres are a Dog at home tonight, albeit a small dog.

Snell vs Gonsolin. The only thing I can see to try to understand this is Snell's outing against the Dodgers on Spet 10th led to 5 ER in 4 innings but subsequently on Sept 27th he allowed only 1 hit and 0 ER over 5 innings.

WTH? I'm seeing an edge with Padres with the exception of the bullpen. Maybe I'm missing something. Anxiously awating PiMike's take on the game.

I'm liking NYY today in today's opener.

Cortes (NYY) 2.44 ERA vs Bieber (CLE) 2.88 ERA. Both are very good pitchers but lately, Cortes has been nothing but excellent.

• Guardians are hitting 0.118 avg vs Cortes with limited number of total bats (34).
• Yankees are hitting 0.294 vs Bieber (68 at bats).

These teams haven't faced each other since July 3rd so its hard to read anything into the 5-1 W/L record the Yankees have over the Guardians. That was back when the Yankees were on pace for 110+ wins and look how that turned out in the 2nd half.

I will say CLE has been hitting better than the Yankees of late and they do win on the road as dogs (+14 units this year). But, I like the Yankees at home.


Weird stat to consider. The Yankees haven't lost 2 ALDS series in a row since 2009 (8 series played).
They lost ALDS in 2020 to the Rays.
