IDK... I don't think Manning could not have gone the entire game.
Through 6.2 innings he had 91 pitches. Would likely have been 120-130 into the 9th if he stayed in the game.

Sucks for the fans, and Manning but I think Hinch is looking for the best way to assure a win.

These damn managers pulling guys who are mowing batters down, yet when a guy on the mound clearly doesn't have it that day, walking batters and giving up hit after hit and several runs, the manager sits on his ass and doesn't make a call until the game is already out of hand

The 2nd part pisses me off a lot. Waiting and waiting to pull a guy who's giving up dingers like their playing in a little league park. Sometimes managers try to hard to "save" their bull-pen for future use.
Some managers are good about leaving/pulling their pitchers and some really really suck at their job. I guess it just depends upon the coaching philosophy of the guy in the job.
