He was the A's closer whom the Padres acquired at the deadline. He throws hard obviously and basically all he throws are fastballs and a nasty slider.

As a closer - you don’t need to have much more than 2 good pitches to be successful. Throw heat triple digits and something to keep the hitters from just sitting and waiting on it.

Pitch in 40-50 games a year - inning at a time. Hitters never see too much of you and risk of injury is lower. Pretty damn good role if you luck into it if you ask me.

Is anybody real familiar with this kid? I was watching the score cast in yesterday's game against Arizona as I bet the Diamondbacks. I couldn't believe most of his pitches were 102 or 103 fastballs. I have hardly seen any Padres games this year so I'm clueless.
Yeah the dude is a stud.

Pretty much light’s out if the A’s had the lead in the 9th last couple of years.

Still, I don’t think I trade the number 3 prospect in baseball at 18 years old for him if I’m the Pads.

Yeah I think they overpaid for Miller myself. They gave some premium studs from their farm system and their bullpen was already pretty damn solid to begin with imo with Robert Suarez at the back end. He gives them another live arm and when it comes to the postseason bullpens have proven to be the difference maker in winning postseason games but they basically pushed all their chips in the middle getting this guy so if they don't win it all it seems to me that this could backfire.

Only reliever I’d ever trade an 18 year old potential breakout star for is Mo or prime Eck
