We have a lot of them out here. I’m getting the itch , but I feel like a degenerate going in there and selling stuff to get cash to gamble.

Do you get decent money for items?
When me and my buddies were in our late teens and early 20s we used to have to pawn stuff every once in awhile for $$

We’d always ready ourselves for the pawn workers talking down about our stuff to try to get us to take less $$

We’ve talked about going in the pawn shop now that we’re older and talking 💩 about all the merchandise they’re selling to try to get them to lower their price, before walking out of the store, as payback

I remember during Covid in the summer I sold a battery powered hydraulic knockout set for like $350. It was pretty much brand new worth like nearly 1K retail lol. Used that money to gamble & lost it all regrettable moment for sure.

Remember you only get 33% of what your merchandise is worth at these places so I said f*** it & sold it. I was out of the electrical field full time by then felt like didn’t really need it & had the urge to gamble on MLB.

Never pawn items to gamble - find a bookie who will extend credit against the items you want to pawn.

Pawn shops pay 10-35% of what they can sell something for - a lot of headache holding stuff for 90 days and risking it being stolen. Stuff like tools and electronics are 10% items - gold/silver 35% of melt and guns do well generally.

Guitars used to be a big seller - these days not so much for a variety of reasons. A while back had a friend who scored a dozen Chibsons (cheap Chinese knock off Gibson guitars) - paid like $140 each - a real deal Gibson is between 2-4k new. Anyway - these looked ok from 15 feet away - look up close and know what you’re looking at - you can spot the fakes easily. Went to some of the lowest level pawn shops - dumped them all for $500 each to some sucker who felt he was going to toss onto eBay for $1500-2k and clean up. Eventually they got wise to the scam and he moved to Marketplace and WhatsApp for a while.

But if your pledging collateral - should be no problem getting 75% value in bets. Pure profit to the bookie if you lose and anyone desperate enough to pawn heirloom jewelry or coins is bound to be a long term loser.

Money to be made behind the dumpster there for you jj

Actually very true.

Check places like Harbor Freight - they will not allow their returns to be resold at pallet sales. If it isn’t worth packing up and returning for refurbishment/parking lot sale inventory or can’t be (as in the case of anything gasoline powered like a generator or gas power washer) it goes to the trash.

Know people who regularly hit the dumpsters there and grab some decent finds - generators and welders. Again - some of the stuff is absolute junk, but that’s what you take into the pawn shop to resell. They never test things - they just take the chance and since they pay 10 cents on the dollar - they can live with the risk.

Doordarsh and Uber eats has all but killed the pawn industry for gamblers. Why pawn stuff when you can jump in your car and deliver food for a couple of days. The Gig economy is a bookmaker's dream. Get with the program boss.
Post of the day.
