They not playing with the honor code in mormon land. NO SEX

BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff is anticipating a seven-game suspension from the school for an honor code violation in the wake of a sexual assault allegation against him, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Per ESPN's Pete Thamel, Retzlaff intends to transfer in anticipation of the suspension. Retzlaff is a graduate student and has a single year of eligibility remaining.

Retzlaff has denied the allegation that was made in a lawsuit filed in May. He contends that he had consensual sex with his accuser, which appears to be the reason that he's facing a suspension from BYU, rather than the sexual assault allegation.

Per the SLT, engaging in consensual premarital sex is a violation of the honor code at BYU, which is run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Students at BYU are subject to a strict honor code that prohibits premarital sex and instructs students to ”live a chaste and virtuous life." Retzlaff is not Mormon, but the honor code rules apply to all BYU students.

Other BYU athletes have faced lengthy honor code suspensions, including NFL running back Jamaal Williams, who missed the entire 2015 season when he was at BYU. Williams said he told the Green Bay Packers in his pre-draft interview that "I had a girl in my room" when asked about why he missed that season.

What Retzlaff is accused of

A Salt Lake County woman referred to as Jane Doe A.G. accused Retzlaff of sexual assault in a lawsuit that was filed in May. Per the lawsuit, Retzlaff's accuser alleges that Retzlaff sexually assaulted her in 2023 in his home. The lawsuit states that she consented to kissing while in Retzlaff's room but "did not want to do anything more." She accuses Retzlaff of forcibly raping her after she repeatedly told him "no" and to "stop."

Per the lawsuit, Retzlaff's accuser reported the alleged sexual assault to police and underwent a rape kit. According to the lawsuit, she did not initially identify Retzlaff to police. Retzlaff does not face criminal charges.

The lawsuit seeks damages of at least $300,000 for alleged battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Retzlaff denied that he assaulted his accuser in a legal response filed Friday in Utah’s 3rd District Court. He acknowledges that he had sex with his accuser as part of a “normal evening of consensual sexual interaction.” His filing alleges that the accuser intends to "extort money from him" now that he's an NFL prospect.

News of Retzlaff's pending suspension arrives two days after he issued his court filing stating that he engaged in consensual sex.

Retzlaff transferred to BYU from Riverside City College in 2023 and was BYU's starting quarterback in 2024. He led the Cougars to an 11-2 season that concluded with an Alamo Bowl victory over Colorado. Retzlaff completed 57.9% of his passes for 2,947 yards (226.7 yards per game) on 8 yards per attempt with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Wow.... Just Wow....
If BYU thinks their athletes aren't having sex while in COLLEGE, they are dumb as rocks.

I'm wondering why this sexual assault is coming up 2 years later. WTH? If it was sexual assault, then why the delay. Clearly something unusual is happening here.

BYU football is going to be hurt by this transfer for sure.

I’m curious - how many Notre Dame or Boston College athletes have been suspended for pre marital sex ?

Guess it’s just the Mormons who take their religion seriously. Good on them - they basically drew a line and called it for what it was: absolutely BEST case - the girl is lying and you admitted to violating one of the core principles of the religion paying for your education and giving you the opportunity to make serious money. You can either sit for 7 weeks while their is more investigation into her claims - and then apply for reinstatement just like everyone before you who has broken the same rule - or you can leave. He foolishly opted to leave.

Does any major program really touch this kid now - he’s absolutely radioactive. You invite a shit storm of negative attention (no matter how unfounded her claims appear to be) and your coach is sure to be crucified for taking him in. Best case - he goes to a low level school with nothing to lose. But if he was smart - he’d have stayed and just taken the year doing mission work or something. He’s delusional and thinks he will be a hot free agent commodity and garner a huge NIL deal somewhere desirable.

I don't think he'll have any problem landing somewhere else and making good cash. The fans aren't stupid; they know that the woman is a gold digger and that BYU's 16th century morality code is a load of shit.

He'll get picked up by some school.
He's got skills and there seems to be a lot of questions regarding the SA claim... like 2 year delay.

-->> My goodness. Can someone give this girl a powerslap? What does she think they're going to do after the kissing? Praying?

Exactly- you voluntarily go to his place after a night out and start the process of coitus, then- 2 years later- you say to yourself "bad idea"

Is that because you've done this dozens or hundreds of times and no one wants a relationship with you lady!!!!

That 'code' is for women too, in fact- its ment to protect and preserve the Momon women from a life of whoring & spinsterhood. This is another ridiculous case of feminism and liberalism hypocrisy.
