I like the home games in Round 1. could be cool to see an SEC team go north in December

But if you put 6 or 8 teams in - it’s so much harder to bleed the fan bases of “legacy” teams dry for playoff tickets.

It’s proven fans are tired of paying premium prices to see their team play in non meaningful bowl games - many same bowl year after year.

If you put a dozen teams in - every 2 loss Big Ten and SEC team makes it - even a 3 loss sneaks in. You keep their fan bases engaged and more importantly spending $$. NIL takes a whole lot of donations and no one’s donating to go to watch their team play in Outback Bowl.

Its basically the Southern equivalent of MAC football - some pretty good teams every couple of years and generally balanced - but let them play a powerhouse football team and they lose 18 of 20 played.

You know there were politics from the small schools involved to get to 12. Maybe even the bullies (SEC, B10) to go to 12. They all want a piece of it and SEC/B10 want 3 or more each in the mix.

NCAA had to comply to appease everyone and look good to the base.

Does it dilute the talent in the playoffs, 100% does. But, people will be cheering for that G5 school to beat the P5 school in round 1. It'll be a cinderella scenario every year. TV loves that stuff.
